The dream is still alive!

While I may not have been updating this blog, the dream *is* still alive. In fact, it is more alive than ever. My dream and goal to be back living in Asheville this summer is going to happen. The signs have been there for me, so the ball is rolling so-to-speak.

There isn't much news to report at this time. I am still working on getting my storage unit cleared out. I had hoped to have this done by February 1st, but that won't be happening. My new goal for getting that task completed is April 1st. I want to not only get it done and cleared out, but I would like to not have to be paying that monthly rent bill any longer than I have to.

On the job front, I have been keeping my eyes open and looking, but I anticipate that things will be more promising once we get to March and April. Just have a strong feeling those are the months things will begin to get better for job openings up in Western North Carolina.

Beyond that, I will try to post here more often now that I'm in the year that things will be happening. Please also check out my website for regular blogging updates and what have you.

The Storage Unit

I meant to blog this weeks ago, but unfortunately, I got sick (twice), had car troubles not to mention that I've just flat out been busy.

Anyway, I was able to spend a few hours one Saturday afternoon in my storage unit in order to get a better look and attempt to bring some sort of organization to the chaos that lied within that metal door. Admittedly, I did not get far on things, but I was able to get the chaos moved to a little bit more of an organized state.

The ultimate goal is to clear out the unit and to sell or give away most everything contained within it. I would like to do this sooner rather than later, but it seems it's going to take more time than I originally thought.

A plan of action

As visions of being back in Asheville dance in my head, my excitement turns to this coming weekend. Two of my friends will be coming down to Florida for a short visit. This married couple is part of the reason why I ended up in Asheville in 2008 as a matter of fact.

In April 2008, I was still living here in Orlando and working for Hertz. I took my vacation the week of my birthday, which is the end of the month. For my vacation, I drove up to Western North Carolina to visit my friends and Asheville. At this point, I had never been to the beautiful mountains. Well, beyond a visit to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee when I was a kid with the family that is. To say I fell in love with the area is an understatement. I was so fond of the area that I looked at apartments and looked into a transfer to the Hertz in town. A little over a month later, I was following my father driving the moving truck up to my new home in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Funny how life can change so quickly isn't it?

Now, while I want to be as sporatic and find a job in Asheville so I can get back to the place I adore so much, I know that I need to have a plan in place. Previously, I lived on my own, paying rent and all the bills which left me bare broke most of the time. And, while I love having my own place without a room-mate, financially that's not really an option. So, this time I am giving myself time to get things in order here in Florida and better plan my move. This move to Asheville will be for good. I realize I can't plan for everything, but I can be smart and ensure that no real big surprises hit me right off the bat when I get up to the mountains.

It begins...

In June 2008, I transferred with my former employer and moved to Hendersonville, NC. Having lived in Central Florida most of my life, not only was I anxious to get out of Florida, but I was excited to be "starting anew" in a new place. It didn't take me long to fall head overheels in love with the mountains. That all came crashing down though in December, when I lost my job and had to give it all up and move back down to Florida to live with my parents.

After two months without a job, I now work for a great company and am doing pretty well. However,I am not happy. Florida is just not the place for me. I want more than the Sunshine State has to offer. I want Asheville back.

That said, this blog will chronicle my adventure to make it back to Asheville. You will get to read about all the craziness and struggles I experience along the way. It's not going to be easy, but when you dream big and want it bad enough, I believe anything is possible.
